The Conexies Team

Conexia is not a regular company. Conexia is a startup. That's not glamorous, nor is it shameful. It means we have few resources to execute a large-scale (and scalable) ambition.

With few resources, we can't afford to waste. Therefore, our team members are not limited to a job description or role in the organization. Their gifts need to be used to the fullest.

Likewise, your colleagues' gifts need to be used to the fullest. Therefore, you must encourage their opinions, consider their different points of view, and provide constant feedback.

Conexia is not a family. Conexia is a team. You don't choose your family; you embrace it as it is and love it unconditionally. You choose your team, train it to be the best it can be, and leave it when it's time to embrace other challenges. At Conexia, we don't mourn departures, we celebrate learning. Sometimes you will develop more at Conexia, sometimes you will develop more somewhere else.

Pillars of our culture

Conexia doesn't call the items below values. Values are brought from your personality, upbringing and experience. People with different values have always coexisted and if we wanted people with the same values in the company, we wouldn't have the diversity we need to be successful. Value is yours, and we respect your individuality. However, a culture is bigger than an individual. Therefore, Conexia calls the three items below cultural pillars and nicknames them CCT:

Collaboration

Competition is a concept that you leave behind when you join Conexia. This concept was created to separate “us” and “them”. By separating us, we don't learn. Without learning, we cannot improve. Without improving daily, we will not be successful. You have no competition here. Conexia has no competition abroad. Out there, Conexia has examples (good or bad) and partners (prepared for the moment or reserved for the future).

Connection

Talent is a concept that you leave behind when you join Conexia. It was created to justify the concentration of professional development on an elite. But a chain always breaks at its weakest link. And the laws of physics will not change. We are connected in a team, in a process or in a business unit. It is the employee who has the most difficulty in progressing that we must pay attention to, because that is where the link will break. If you want to be one of the best employees at Conexia, identify the weakest link, help it or escalate the weakness to someone who can help it. Only then will the collective be successful.

Trust

Micromanagement is a concept that you leave behind when you join Conexia. It was created to give rhythm to those who are not engaged or capable of doing a job or to camouflage the insecurity of a team manager, so it is a patch between links, not a solution. If you can't trust a colleague with a job, build trust first. When we accept a job, we deliver or ask for help before the bond breaks. And we are always comfortable turning down a job. We are not paid for what we say we will do or even for what we do; we are recognized for the results we generate. Those who promise and do not deliver have not only lost trust, but have also made their colleagues lose the opportunity to earn it, if they were given the responsibility in their place. By trusting each other, we will transmit trust to our clients, a fundamental condition for our success.

The Conexies' Company

A company should not be as great as the profit it generates, but measured by its impact on the community. Conexia is not a non-profit entity and Conexia is not a for-profit entity. Conexia is an entity with profit motives and impact purposes.

This means that we are not greedy. We share our efficiency gains with our customers and collaborators. Every employee, when they join the company, can ask to receive part of their salary as vesting (part of the company), that is, to become an owner of the company.

Being an owner of the company has a very strong effect. When you are the owner, there are no more problems of your colleague that are not your concern. There are no wrongs that you keep quiet about.

And you work for what is best for Conexia, not for your boss. In fact, it is normal to disagree with your manager, as long as you are honest with him/her.

We still do not have policies for expenses, gifts, travel, vacations, studies, leave, clothing, remote work, or anything like that. Not because everything is allowed, but because those who work at Conexia use their good judgment to do what is best for the company. If you find yourself in a context where it's hard to make sense of it, ask for help.

In short

CCT is our culture: Collaboration, Connection and Trust
We are a team of owners
Profit is the means. Impact, the end as the objective

A final observation

You will be recruited for your ability and curiosity to learn. If you have never talked to our customers or tried our technology, don't be surprised if you are not accepted in the selection process, even if you have the best resume in the world. We offer our customers personal development, something that does not hurt to try and never hurts. Once you join the company, the situation does not change. We expect everyone to have close contact with our products and services, regardless of their role. If you have not made a suggestion for improvement or pointed out a flaw in months, do not be surprised if your managers lose interest in you. Everyone in the company has access to our test environments and the bug log document. The quality of our service should be questioned by all of us. Is this the best we have to offer?

What if I am not selected?

Our culture is not perfect, nor is it for everyone. If it is not for you, that does not make us enemies. We want your cooperation and we want to collaborate. If you were not selected:

  • We want your cooperation if you felt wronged or if you are considering not recommending Conexia as a company for a friend to work for. Describe why to the CEO (ceo@conexia.club).
  • We want to collaborate by giving you feedback on what did not match our expectations and your background. We only do it for those who ask for it, but we do it with all our heart and good will.
